Truck dumps are often highly exposed to wind, making dust containment a critical part of the overall dust control strategy. In these applications, passive containment and active dust suppression must work together to effectively control airborne dust.
The preferred approach is often to install a stilling shed or enclosure to isolate the dump pocket from external wind and airflow. However, in some truck dump applications, a wind fence may be the best solution for providing the passive containment required for effective dust control.
When combined with an ADS™ Dry Fog Dust Suppression System, a wind fence helps reduce wind interference, contain airborne dust, and provide the retention time needed for fog droplets and dust particles to agglomerate. This allows the system to capture dust more effectively before it disperses into the surrounding area.
Wind fences can be an effective solution for truck dumps, dump pockets, mining operations, bulk material handling facilities, and other applications where full enclosure is difficult but dust containment is still required.
