ADS™ Dry Fog Dust Suppression Systems is provided by TRC for coal mining and coal handling applications. Fog-based dust control technology was first applied in coal mining in 1995 in the Powder River Basin (PRB) region of the western United States, where it became a widely used alternative to traditional dust extraction systems.
TRC ADS™ Dry Fog controls airborne coal dust at the source using microscopic water droplets that agglomerate with dust particles and help them settle back onto the material stream. The system adds minimal moisture to the coal flow, helps avoid over-wetting, and does not require chemical additives or specially treated water.
ADS™ Dry Fog systems are also well suited for cold-climate coal mining applications because properly designed systems can operate without creating ice buildup or freezing problems typically associated with conventional water spray systems.
In many properly contained applications, well-designed and well-maintained ADS™ Dry Fog Dust Suppression Systems can achieve very high dust reduction performance, including up to 99% dust reduction.
Where to Use ADS™ Dry Fog in Coal Mining
ADS™ Dry Fog is well suited for containable coal dust sources, including:
-
Truck dumps
-
Conveyor transfer points
-
Coal crushing and screening applications
-
Lowering wells and rill towers
-
Enclosed or partially enclosed coal handling areas
