4.-Freeze Protection for ADS™ Dry Fog Dust Suppression Systems

< >

Cold ambient conditions can create freezing risks in dust suppression systems that use water lines, nozzles, manifolds, and control components. For applications exposed to freezing temperatures, TRC provides a freeze protection package designed to help the system operate reliably in extremely cold environments.

TRC typically uses three primary freeze protection methods:

  1. Constant Air Purge
A continuous air purge helps prevent water from remaining inside the nozzle and reduces the risk of nozzle freezing.

  2. Pipe Insulation
Water lines are insulated to help maintain temperature and protect piping from cold ambient conditions.

  3. Electric Heat Tracing
Water lines are equipped with heat tracing to help prevent freezing. The heat trace circuit is activated at approximately 40°F / 5°C.

When properly applied, these freeze protection strategies help ADS™ Dry Fog dust suppression systems operate effectively in cold-weather mining, mineral processing, coal handling, power generation, and bulk material handling applications.
