Transfer points and reclaim tunnel transfers are common dust generation areas where material moves from one conveyor belt to another. These applications can generate significant airborne dust due to material impact, airflow, and changes in material direction.
TRC ADS™ Dry Fog Dust Suppression Systems are well suited for controlling dust directly at the source in conveyor transfer points and reclaim tunnels. The system applies microscopic water droplets into the dust generation area, allowing the fog to agglomerate with airborne dust particles and help them settle back onto the material stream.
For successful dust control, ADS™ Dry Fog should be used together with effective passive containment features, such as head boxes, transfer chutes, conveyor hoods, double-lip skirting, baffles, and engineered enclosures. These components help contain the fog and dust, reduce uncontrolled airflow, and provide the retention time needed for effective dust suppression.
TRC Water Spray Systems (WSS) can also be used at transfer points when material conditioning is required. In these applications, water spray is used primarily to increase material moisture and reduce dust generation downstream, rather than to capture airborne dust at the immediate source. By applying controlled moisture at transfer points, TRC helps create a more uniform material condition with lower potential for future dust generation.
